The User Interface Windows provide three main functions:

  • Editing Windows are the means whereby you may view and edit information stored in the database. Editing Windows normally have a main subject such as a resident, employee or classification. The Subject of the screen is normally identified by a code, which is usually the first field available on the screen.
  • Process Windows allow you to carry out processes. Some processes such as resident billing or payroll updates are fully automatic others such as entering pays or recording general ledger journals are largely manual, albeit with some process, such as calculating the pay and tax due from a pay item, built in.
  • Report Windows allow you to initiate and display the results of reports.

Windows are opened by making the appropriate selection from the Drop down Menu.

You may have several windows open at the same time but only one Window is Active at any point in time. For example you could be running a report while you are editing resident details. If you were actively editing then the report would continue in the background. Processes running in the background often run more slowly.

Care Systems recommends that great care is exercised if editing is carried out concurrently with an update process such as a payroll update. Be sure not to try to edit records that will also be updated by the automatic process. If in doubt exit the editing screen until the update process is complete.

You may select the Active Window with the mouse or from the Window option on the Drop Down Menu. The Focus is then on that Window.

More Complex Windows may contain several Areas and in some cases these Areas may be identified by TABs.
