FocusΒΆ
Many items (Windows & Drop down Menus for example) may be displayed on a Microsoft Windows screen but at any point in time only one of these items will respond to the operator. In this document the general term Area is used to refer to the Window or part of a Window that may hold the Focus. Normally the Focus is on an item within the Area such as a Field or Menu Item. That item is then currently responsive to the operator.
In most circumstances where the Focus is on a Window the whole of that Window is available. In some circumstances a Window may comprise two or more sub-windows. In these circumstances the Focus will be on one sub-window only.
See Switch between Areas for information on how to move the Focus.
