Terminate

The terminate function, which is initiated by the Terminate Button at the bottom right, [click it or press Alt-T] has two main processes.

The termination process allows you to:

  • Enter details for a Termination Pay, which is in additional to the employee’s normal entitlement (e.g. Annual Leave and Long Service Leave payouts) and which would be included in an Eligible Termination Payment Summary. This is presented on the First Screen of this process.
  • There follows a series of additional screens that allow you to record termination payments, which are in lieu of Unpaid Leave of various sorts.

First Screen

This screen provides the following fields:

Termination Date:
 

The date the employee terminated employment.

Note

The termination date must be in the current period. You can adjust the termination date later if necessary on the employee maintenance screen.

Some of the following field will be available once a termination date has been entered.

Termination Reason:
 

Select the appropriate Reason

Days Before 01/07/1983:
 

Display Only – Program generated from Start Date and Termination Date.

Days After 30/06/1983:
 

Display Only – Program generated from Start Date and Termination Date.

Pre July 1983 Component:
 

Enter the appropriate amount, 5% of this amount will be included in the Assessable Amount field.

Post June 1983:

Enter the appropriate amount 100% of this amount will be included in the Assessable Amount field.

Post June 1994 Invalidity:
 

Enter the appropriate amount this amount or part there of is not included in the Assessable Amount field.

Gross Payment:

Not editable - Program Calculated from the editable fields.

Tax Deducted:

Enter appropriate amount.

Assessable Amount:
 

This amount in this field is automatically Calculated from the amounts in - Pre July 1983 Component (5%) and the Post June 1983 Untaxed (100%).

This field can be manually edited but will be recalculated by the system if any of the following fields are edited.

  • Pre July 1983 Component
  • Post June 1983 Untaxed
  • Post June 1994 Invalidity

If a manually edited amount is required in this field, it is recommended to edit this field just prior to moving to the next screen.

Death Benefit:

Flag to indicate that Death Benefit applies.

Death Type:

Where the Death Benefit flag is Yes this may be set to either Trustee of Deceased Estate or Non Dependant.

When you have completed the necessary fields on this screen click the Accept Button to move to the screens that deal with payments for other outstanding leave. Go To Unpaid Leave.


Unpaid Leave

This is where available leave on termination is calculated.

Classification:The Classification under which this Leave was accrued.
Leave Type:The Leave Type for this screen will be determined by the type of termination. Once each leave screen has been accepted other available leave type screens will be displayed.
Is this termination an early retirement scheme for invalidity or bona fide redundancy:
 This flag will determine the group box that will be used for the following possible leaves.

The next part of this screen have two rows of information.

A separate screen is presented for each Leave Type/Classification combination.

Previous Leave row, shows termination information for the Leave accrued up the start of the current Leave Year.

Accessibility to the fields in this row is determined by the setting in Leave Definition Maintenance. If the Leave Definition has been set to None, this fields in this row will not be accessible, if the Leave Definition has been set to Hours, the fields in this row will be accessible and will display the following fields.

Hrs Available:This shows the number of hours that are to be paid out. [Editable].
Cost:This shows the payment due to the employee excluding any resulting from Leave Loading that may be due to the employee. [Editable].
Loading:This shows the payment due to the employee for any Leave Loading that may be due to the employee. [Editable]
Sub-Total:This shows the total for this line.
Box:This shows the Group Box that will be used for these payments in the Payment Summary.

Current Leave row, shows termination information for the Leave Accrued in the Current Leave Year.

Accessibility to the fields in this row is determined by the setting in Leave Definition Maintenance. If the Leave Definition has been set to None, the fields in this row will not be accessible, if the Leave Definition has been set to Hours or Dollars, the fields in this row will be accessible and will display the following fields.

Where the Current Leave Definition has been set to Hours

Hrs Available:This shows the number of hours that are to be paid out. [Editable].
Cost:This shows the payment due to the employee excluding any resulting from Leave Loading that may be due to the employee. [Editable].
Loading:This shows the payment due to the employee for any Leave Loading that may be due to the employee. [Editable]
Sub-Total:This shows the total for this line.
Box:This shows the Group Box that will be used for these payments in the Payment Summary.

Where the Current Leave Definition has been set to Dollars

Earned $:This shows the number of Termination Basis Dollars paid to the employee during the current Leave Year. For details of how these Termination Basis Dollars are generated see Pay Items, Flags TAB, Term Basis Dollars. [Editable].
Term %:This shows the percentage that will be applied to the amount at the Earned $ field to get the Total Possible Dollars Due. [Editable].
Used $:This shows the value of all payments made to the employee during this Leave Year which were for Leave accrued in this Leave Year. [Editable].
Sub-Total:This shows the amount that is actually due to the employee. This is the Total Possible Dollars Due less the value in the Used field.

The Nett Dollars due to the employee for this Leave Type/Classification combination is shown at the bottom of the screen.

Accept Button:To Accept and Save this screen
Reload Button:This will reload all Automatic calculations, any manually editing will be lost
Cancel Button:This will escape out of this process.
