Import Formats

Setup ‣ Import Formats

Here you may define the format of an ASCII file which is imported from an electronic time and attendance recording machine. The fields in the file are fixed length and no separators are required. The Length on the preceding field determines the Start Position of the next field.

For each field the following characteristics should be set.

Start Position:This field is will normally be zero “0” for the first field in the ASCII record. The first field in the ASCII record need not be the first field on the screen [Card ID].
Number Of Characters:
This field sets the length of the field in the ASCII record.

The Fields available are:

Card ID:This identifies the employee. Typically this would be the code from a swipe card but if could be generated by other means (finger print reader for example).
Month:This is a numeric field that identifies the month of the year. This should be at least two digits with January for example recorded as “01”.
Day:This is a numeric field that identifies the day of the month. This should be at least two digits.
Hour:This is a numeric field that identifies the hour of the day. This should be at least two digits and should be in 24 hour clock format.
Minute:This is a numeric field that identifies the minute of the hour. This should be at least two digits.
